The one of the two boys and the dog seems very like Margaret Wise Brown’s Mister Dog – but now I’ve gone searching a bit and found that Masha illustrated the first Little Golden Book. Interesting! Do you know anything about her?

Her real name was Marie Simchow Stern and there ends my knowledge of her. I found this but little else. I have another book with her illustrations and will upload it.
I didn’t like ‘A Farm Story’ when I was a child. It was given to my oldest brother by an uncle who had a fondness for such things. He gave me ‘Little House on the Prairie’ and I didn’t like that either. :D Too many children, not enough animals.

I always seem to be apologising for late replies! I found that same information pretty much. It’s fascinating that Masha is so obscure.
I can see not liking the book much if you preferred the animals to children! I like the cow’s expression, but the girl, especially, is a bit sweet for my taste.
